We often know all of the reason why we should be doing something, yet it's tough to dig deep for those reasons when we're in a rut.

However, when we take the time to introspectively and consciously remind ourselves of where we are, where we're going, and how we expect to get there, motivation seems to come much easier.

You know what prevents me from procrastinating? Seeing the bills I have to pay. :-D

Rachel,

You're absolutely right. Crossing off the tasks from the list is a major psychological benefit, and even makes me want to accomplish more just so that I can "cross off" more things on the list. Thanks for the added tip!

Don't forget the crossing-off-the-stuff-on-the-list part! I know it sounds anal, but I like to cross things off with just a single line. As I go back to the list over and over, it has some psychological benefit to be able to see how much I've done already. It makes me want to do more and FINISH ALREADY.

I love lists... I think of them as a brain dump. Once I get it down on paper, I can stop thinking about it. Much less stressful to know that I have it written down instead of trying to remember everything -- leaves more brain room for other stuff!
