The idea was not to imply that you should be asking people for rides and not pay them for gas but more so if someone is going somewhere you’re going, then ask for a lift.

I’m on board with a lot of this, but #19 doesn’t go over big with me. Taking rides from a friend and never chipping in for gas money isn’t frugal–it’s cheap, and it’s rude, and it’s a good way to show your friend that his or her friendship isn’t worth $20 a few times a year to you. Not cool, and not a good way to maintain your friendships.
